What stays on your phone
Pass-and-play needs no account. Phone Party does not ask for your phone number, contacts, photos or precise location.
The names you type for players, the avatars you pick, saved groups, game history, awards and settings are saved in your phone's local app storage. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data removes them.
Charades reads the phone's motion sensor to detect a tilt. This happens on the device and the readings are not stored or sent anywhere.
Online rooms and friends (optional)
If you open Online play or Friends, the app signs you in with an anonymous account and creates an online profile: the display name, @username and avatar you choose, plus a random friend code. Other players can see your display name, @username and avatar when they search for you, are your friend or share a room with you.
To run rooms and friends we store: your profile, friend requests and friendships, people you block or report (and the reason you give), the rooms you join, the secret cards dealt to you, your votes and guesses in a round, and the results of games you play with linked friends. Results you share with friends appear in their History too. We also store when you agreed to the online rules (slayerblade.in/phone-party/terms). Names and @usernames are checked against a list of banned words when you set them, and a profile reported by several players is hidden from search until we review it.
If you choose “Continue with Google”, Google shares your Google account ID and email address with us so your online profile can be restored on another phone. We do not use them for anything else and never show your email to other players.
Online data is stored by our backend provider Supabase (servers in Mumbai, India, acting as our processor) and is protected by per-user access rules. There is no chat, and we do not read or sell your data.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app shows occasional full-screen ads between games, never in the middle of a game and never before your third game in a session. AdMob may collect your device's advertising ID, IP address (used to estimate approximate location), device and app information, ad interactions and diagnostic data to serve, measure and limit ads and to prevent fraud.
You can reset your advertising ID or opt out of ad personalisation in your device's Google settings (Settings, Google, Ads). Google's policy: policies.google.com/technologies/ads. The optional Remove ads purchase turns ads off for good.
Purchases
The optional one-time “Remove ads” purchase is processed by Google Play. We never see your payment details. The app receives a purchase confirmation (product and order identifier) from Google Play to unlock the purchase and to restore it after a reinstall.
Sharing a results card
When you tap Share on a results screen, the app creates an image on your phone and hands it to the share sheet. What happens next depends on the app you pick, such as WhatsApp or Instagram, and is covered by that app's policy. Nothing is uploaded by Phone Party.
Word lists and optional 18+ pack
All word decks are bundled inside the app. The family-safe decks are on by default. An optional 18+ pack for adult groups is off until you switch it on in Settings.
How long data is kept
Data on your device is kept until you uninstall the app or clear its data. Rooms and room invites are deleted automatically within a day. Your online profile, friends and shared results are kept until you delete your online account. Advertising data is kept by Google according to its own policies.
Your choices and rights
Delete your data on the phone: uninstall the app or clear its storage in Android settings.
Delete your online account: in the app go to Friends, then Delete my online account. This removes your profile, friendships, blocks, rooms and the results you hosted straight away. You can also request deletion at slayerblade.in/phone-party/delete-account.
Opt out of personalised ads: use your device's Google ads settings, or buy Remove ads.
Depending on where you live (for example the EEA/UK under the GDPR, or California under the CCPA) you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to processing of your data. Contact us to exercise them. We do not sell your personal information.
Children
Phone Party is intended for players aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used the app, contact us and we will help remove any data.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top and, for significant changes, mention it in the app's update notes.
